When you go out for your first run with your new running shoes it feels kind of like a new relationship: fresh, comfortable, stable, your crazy in love like Jay-Z and Beyonce and you wonder “why was I holding on to those worn out shoes that just don’t treat me right?” The new bounce in your stride makes you feel on top of the world. For the first 0.10km I felt uneasy about my knee and then my worries were over– my knee held up and I even hit the hills. The thing about life is that even though you feel like you are new, your past always has a way of coming back to you. I literally ran into a friend that I have known for a good 20 years now but I haven’t seen them for a few of those years. It’s funny when you haven been away from a friend for a few years and then all of a sudden your career goals end up becoming the same. Or like a few weeks ago I met a friend and our career goals actually switched with one another. Life has a way of bringing you in different directions and sometimes you feel like you are taking the road solo but really you have an old friend taking the same strides as you. It’s an amazing concept because you realise you are never alone. I did have to pause my workout while our long convo went on or else I’m pretty sure once we exchanged our sticky hugs my run time would be 2 hours by the end of my run. It was another sunny and life learnin’ run!
