Everyone’s got an agenda.

I started planning out my 2011 race schedule and as I was searching through which races I might be interested in doing next year it dawned on me- I am an avid runner. I love that thought. It doesn’t worry me to know that I might be the only one I know attending a certain race. The enjoyment of knowing that I am going is enough. Having a reason to run and something to train for makes it easier to throw on your gear and give every run all you’ve got. I’m hoping to be signed up for some of my 2011 races by the end of the week. The early bird really does get the best deals in the running world! And, what better motivation is there than knowing that you have a bib # waiting for you with your name on it?!

Here’s my tentative 2011 schedule:

Sunday May 1, 2011
Sporting Life 10K: For Kids With Cancer
Racing for a great cause. And what is better than an inspirational race?

Sunday May 15, 2011
GoodLife Fitness Toronto Half Marathon
This will be my debut to the Toronto Half Marathons!

Saturday September 24, 2010
Oasis Zoo Run 10K
Because running with Disney characters was amazing- why not run with the animals at the Toronto Zoo!?

Sunday October 16, 2011
Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon
I am in LOVE with the Toronto Waterfront. It is just so pretty and picturesque. A perfect location to run.

I know you are probably thinking- Siobhan, there are NO runs in the summer! Don’t worry- they will be coming! My mum’s good friend was diasgnosed with colon cancer this year and is now a proud cancer survivor. In honour of her, I will be running in the race of her choice. Which I have a sneaking suspician might be The Underwear Affair 10K. I’ll keep you posted on that one!

As I was training the other day, my nike+ sensor battery gave out and stopped calculating my run. grrrrr! So, my passed few runs have not been recorded. Thanks, nike+. Well, I can’t be too mad at it seeming as I ran over 1,000 km with that little guy! So, off to the store I will go to buy a new sensor. Sometimes your agenda needs to be ready for those little bumps in the road, because life doesn’t always go the way you plan. For now, you can see the songs I ran to on Saturday. Starting with my new favourite running jam “What’s My Name?” by Rihanna and the Torontonian Drake. I can’t get enough of it. I could probably loop it all day.
