Love your playlist.

Love. Not Like. LOVE!

If every song on your playlist doesn’t make you want to get up and dance- how can you possibly finish that extra mile when your legs are aching and starting to feel like lime green jell-o? Songs can change your mood. You may have gone into your run thinking “I really don’t want to do this today” but as soon as you start going and that music is pumping in your ear buds- nothing can stop you!

I like to make my playlists right before I run. This way I know exactly what type of music I am in the mood for. I might just want a slower song to get me into the run followed by some full force pump up jams. Life can get busy and sometimes we just don’t have the time to constantly go through our music library and look through all those songs to find out what we “might” want to hear. I recommend making a master cardio playlist. Then you can see all the hundreds of songs that get you excited everytime they come on. This makes it really easy to build a great playlist in under 5 minutes!

Save all your playlists you create and title them in the mood you are feeling at that moment. This way you can build up your playlist collection! I love being able to step outside and decide in the moment what playlist I feel like rocking out to.

Research new music. If you hear a song on a commercial, in a TV show (even if it’s On The Wings of Love from The Bachelor) find out what it is and add to your list! Don’t worry- I won’t judge you. Why? Because you are the only one who can hear your music! Unless you are singing it out loud like I did yesterday. Or you are singing On The Wings of Love in the grocery store while picking out your frozen peas. Yep, I witnessed that the other week and I laughed out loud by myself! Hilarious. I love it!

Some people also like running silent. Yeah, that’s not me. But maybe one day I will try it!

I would also like to try running to a podcast one day. A long time ago my friend introduced me to Jian Ghomeshi’s Q podcast. Jian talks about art, culture, and entertainment with some great guests on interesting topics. I think I would be focused enough on the conversations to get lost in my thoughts on the run. Check it out, you may fall in love!

For now I’m sticking with a musical playlist. I can’t wait to put this track on my next one. I just heard it this morning thanks to iTunes!
