It’s not a surprise that I snack all day but snacking at night time is very common for me. When I said I have to eat every 2 hours, I meant it! My favourite night time snack is cereal:
The best cereal for me is Raisin Bran because you get 40% of your daily intake of iron in just one bowl of two scoops! Don’t know about my iron problem? You can read about it HERE! Sometimes I like mixing other cereals with my Raisin Bran. Like Kashi or Corn Flakes and top it all off with fruit. Some people think that’s weird but I love the surprise in every bite! The other benefit of eating cereal before bed is that the whole grains promote the release of serotonin which helps you relax and the milk’s tryptophan will help you fall asleep!
My other favourite night time snack? Popcorn! I make it with olive oil and eat it plain. Call me cray but I don’t need butter and salt on my kernels to eat an entire bowl to myself while watching The Bachelorette:
The benefit of popcorn? It has been recently discovered that the crunchy hull in the kernels have polyphenols (antioxidant compounds that prevent damage to the cells) and may also have disease-fighting properties. And the olive oil used to pop the kernels also has antioxidants and acts as an anti-inflammatory! Perfect.
Some of my favourite sensible snacks this week were all fruit related:
Yogurt with raspberries and pineapple |
Watermelon |
