Being the Best Athlete Stems From What You Love.

As a runners I find that we say, I’m a Runner. The problem with this is that as soon as an injury comes along, we don’t know how to exercise without running. Of course there are other sports that we are interested in doing but there is nothing like putting on your shoes and knowing that you will be able to think, fly solo, and just run to your own thoughts. Some of us run to eat, eat to run, run for the challenge of running, for the fun of running, or to be competitive with ourselves and/or others. Personally, I have run for all of these reasons.
Running has taught me a lot more about myself than any other sport has. It’s an individual sport. You can push yourself as hard as you want to get a PR or you can just enjoy every mile. Since the Toronto Goodlife Half Marathon on May 15th, 2011 and hitting my new Half Marathon PR of 2:02, I have not been as fierce with my running as I have been in the past. I ended up spraining a lot of tendons in the bottom of my feet which now makes my long runs 1.5 km. Instead of becoming a couch potato, I started to re-kindling my love for other activities as I healed. After only doing minimal blogging, going to physio, and finding new ways to amuse myself, I am feeling a million times better mentally and physically than ever before. I decided to re-vamp my blog and make it more rounded and really show who I am.
I truly believe that all of our experiences in life shape us into the best athlete that we can be. My healthy living blog is no longer just my personal experience with running. It’s my personal experience with all of my loves that make me the best athlete and person that I have always dreamed of being:
A friend of mine just posted this quote and it couldn’t read my mind more:
“The meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away.”
-unknown

I hope you enjoy the new direction that I have taken my blog and continue to grow with me through healthy living and staying true to yourself while filling your days with everything that you LOVE to do.
Happy Thursday Friends!
